Refund and cancellation policy
The short version: students pay nothing on this platform. Teachers spend Credits on applications — and this page states exactly when those credits come back.
Credit refunds — the rule
A teacher's first application is free. After that, applications spend Credits from the teacher's wallet (see the pricing page). There is no refund after you apply in the normal course of a job — the student reviews your application and your contact reveal has happened. One exception, applied automatically:
- If the student cancels or withdraws the job, or an administrator removes it, before your application has been shortlisted, the credits you spent on that application are returned to your wallet automatically. You will see the refund in your wallet history.
- Once your application has been shortlisted, or the job runs its normal course (the student selects a tutor, or selects someone else), the credits are not refunded.
- Credits themselves are bought from the academy off-platform (this website takes no payments and collects no card details). A refund of money paid for unused credits is handled by the academy directly — contact us with your credit request details and we will review it. Credits that have been spent are covered by the rule above, not by money refunds.
Lesson fees between students and tutors
Lesson fees are agreed and paid directly between a student and a tutor. Any refund of a lesson fee is therefore a matter between those two parties. To avoid disputes, we strongly recommend agreeing the following in writing (platform messages are ideal) before lessons begin:
- The rate, lesson length and how and when payment is made.
- How much notice is needed to cancel or reschedule a lesson without charge.
- What happens if either side does not attend an agreed lesson.
Cancelling bookings and jobs on the platform
- Trial requests can be cancelled by either side from the dashboard before the agreed time; tell the other person as early as you can.
- Job posts can be closed or cancelled by the student who posted them. Tutors who applied will see the updated status.
- Accounts can be closed by contacting us — see the contact page. Closing an account does not create any charge.
If you believe someone on the platform has acted dishonestly about money, report it to us with the message history — we can suspend accounts that break our community guidelines, even though we cannot recover payments made outside the platform.
