Pricing and fees

In one sentence: students never pay to use this marketplace, and teachers pay nothing to join or be approved.

For students and parents — always free

  • Registering is free, for students, parents and tutors alike.
  • Posting a tutoring job is free — describe what you need and approved teachers apply to you.
  • Contacting teachers is free — message any approved teacher, review applications and choose who to work with, at no cost.
  • There is no subscription and no service fee for students, ever.

For teachers — free to join, Credits to apply

  • Your profile and its approval are free. Create your profile, get reviewed and go live without paying anything.
  • Your first application is free. Every teacher can apply to their first student job at no cost.
  • Further applications use Credits. After the first one, applying to a job spends a small number of credits from your Credit Wallet. This keeps applications serious — teachers apply to jobs they genuinely want — and it protects students' contact details from being harvested by unknown accounts: a student's phone number is only revealed to teachers who have actually applied.
  • The cost depends on the student's country and the job's budget. Applying to a job from a lower-income country costs fewer credits than applying to a job from the US, UK, Canada, Australia or Europe, and higher-budget jobs cost more than lower-budget ones. The exact cost of every job is shown on the job itself before you apply, and the full table is in your Credit Wallet.
  • Credits are refunded if a job is cancelled. If the student cancels the job (or an administrator removes it) before your application is shortlisted, your credits come back automatically. See the refund policy.

Credits are requested from your Credit Wallet — there is no automatic checkout on this website and we never ask for card details here. If anyone claims you must pay a fee not described on this page to use TutMeet, treat it as suspicious and tell us about it.

Quick answers

  • How much does it cost a student to hire a tutor here? Nothing — the marketplace is free for students. You only agree the tutor's own lesson rate with the tutor.
  • How much does it cost a teacher to join? Nothing. Profile creation and approval are free, and the first application is free too.
  • What do teachers pay after the first application? A small number of Credits per application, set by the student's country and the job's budget, and always shown on the job before applying.
  • Is there a subscription? No. There is no subscription or membership fee for anyone.

What tutors charge for lessons

Each tutor sets their own hourly rate, shown on their profile. Lesson fees are agreed and paid directly between the student and the tutor. TutMeet does not add a commission or service fee to lesson prices, and does not handle lesson payments.
