Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about using TutMeet. If your question is not covered here, the contact options at the bottom of this page will help.

Is it free to use?

For students, yes — completely. Joining, posting a tutoring job, browsing tutors, messaging and requesting a trial are all free for students. For teachers, joining and getting a profile approved are free and your first application is free; after that, applying to a job costs a small number of Credits (the amount depends on the student's country). Tutors set their own lesson rates, which students agree and pay directly with the tutor. Our pricing page states this in full.

How do teacher Credits work?

Credits are what teachers spend to apply to jobs after their free first application. The cost of an application depends on the student's country and the job's budget — lower for South and Southeast Asia, higher for the US, UK, Europe and the Gulf — and the exact amount is shown on every job before you apply. You request credits from your Credit Wallet, pay the academy via the contact shown there, and an administrator adds the credits once your payment is confirmed. There is no automatic checkout and we never ask for card details on this website. If a student cancels a job before shortlisting your application, the credits for that application are refunded to your wallet automatically.

When is my phone number shared?

Never publicly. A student's number is shown only to teachers who apply to that student's job, and a teacher's number is shown only to a student whose job they applied to. Numbers never appear on public pages or in search results.

Can administrators read my messages?

Administrators can review conversations on the platform for safety, moderation and dispute resolution. Access is read-only — they cannot post in your conversations — and every admin view of a conversation is recorded in the audit log.

How do I find a tutor?

Either browse tutor profiles and filter by subject and country, or post a job describing what you need and let approved tutors apply to you. Both routes are free.

How do I post a tutoring job?

Create a free student account, verify your email, then use Post a Job to describe the subject, level, whether lessons are online or in person, your budget range and what you want to achieve. Approved tutors can then apply.

How do I become a tutor?

Create a free tutor account, verify your email, and complete your profile from your dashboard — headline, biography, subjects, levels, languages and rate. Your profile is reviewed by an administrator before it becomes public and before you can apply to jobs.

Why is my tutor profile not visible yet?

New and edited profiles go through review first. Until an administrator approves your profile it will not appear in search and you cannot apply to jobs. This protects students and keeps listings trustworthy.

What does a trial lesson involve?

Students can send a trial request to an approved tutor from the tutor's profile. The tutor confirms, declines or suggests another time. A trial is a short introductory lesson so both sides can decide whether to continue — agree the details in messages first.

How do payments for lessons work?

The platform does not take lesson payments. You agree the tutor's rate and pay the tutor directly by a method you both accept. Never share bank passwords or one-time codes with anyone.

Can I leave a review?

Yes — if you posted a job and completed it with the tutor you selected, you can review that tutor from the job. Reviews are tied to real completed jobs so they cannot be invented.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

Use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page. We email a single-use reset link that expires after a short time, and resetting your password signs out your other sessions.

How do I report a problem with a user or listing?

Contact us with a link to the profile, job or conversation and a short description of the problem. An administrator reviews reports and can hide content or suspend accounts that break our community guidelines.
